PFFM members Chris Whytock, Rockland Local 1584, Winston McGill, Local 740 and John Martell, Local 740 rode in the MS Bike to Breakwater charity ride on Sunday, August 2. The three PFFM members were part of more than 450 riders who hit rode to help support the worthy cause of fighting Multiple Sclerosis. Whytock, whose mother suffered from MS, help organize the group and worked to get local sponsorship for the custom made jerseys they wore.
The three firefighters rode through the rolling hills surrounding the Sebago Lake region keeping a steady pace with groups of riders. They hope more PFFM brothers and sisters will take to the rode in support of MS research in next years rude. Money was raised from many sources by the three firefighters, with Local 740 giving a major contribution for McGill and Martell. At the end of the ride the participants were treated to their choice of a lobster or barbecue lunch.
