Brothers and Sisters,
The Public Hearing for the Workers Comp bill, LD 1571 is this Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 @ 1300. Please see the information below. We need a strong turn out for this day as you all know. I will not go into the importance of making a stand on this one. We have been talking to about this for some time now. Dress code will be a job shirt or something to identify you as a firefighter. We need your support and I look forward to seeing you there. If you have any questions please contact your DVP or myself.
John

HazMat Drill
HazMat Drill-

Welcome to the Portland Professional Fire Fighters’ website. This exciting venue is meant to
provide information not only to the men and women who serve our community, but also to the
public--residents and visitors to the city of Portland.   The Portland Fire Department Local 740 of
The International Association of Fire Fighters is the union that proudly represents the firefighters,  paramedics, and communications personnel that stand guard over Portland Maine 24 hours a day.
In addition, more and more of those that have completed their careers have opted to remain
on the rolls as active-retired union members.   Since 1942, Local 740 and its members have worked not only to improve the job but also to ensure changes that help keep the public safe. And when one thinks about it, they are one in the same. Since 1768--yes that’s right, 1768, the folks who have ridden the rigs here in Portland have done so with one goal in mind: Be there for those in need.  It is our hope that this website will help keep the members of our union, and the public,
up to speed on the latest in public safety communications, emergency medical services, and fire fighting. And not just in Portland or the state of Maine, but from across this country. The 280+ members of Local 740, both active and retired, are part of a proud profession and we are part of a bold organization. The IAFF consists of nearly 300,000 trained public safety providers working in the United States and Canada.    Please enjoy this site and visit it frequently. Through this site we will tell the story of one of the best-kept secrets around—The men and women of the Portland Fire Department. We have a proud history and a bold, bright future. Thank you very much.
